Hey all I have got a ton of info on mapmakin from
this sight so I thought I would give something
in return. I have a task force dagger mission that
I am creating thats close to being finished. It requires you to call for airstrikes to take out some
bunkers and rocket launchers and to infiltrate enemy base and kill all bad guys and locate items.
It has surface buildings and a tunnel complex.
Currently its a single player mission with blackhawk insertion and extraction from an
airbase. I want to post it for play and evaluation.
I have played it but I made it so I cant gauge its
difficulty level or entertainment level. I would like
feedback from some other players on what to
improve or omit. Just give me the procedure
required to post it up on the site and I will when
I finish polishing it . How do you zip it and post it?
I am an avid single player fan and made it to my
likings and I hope all you SP guys like it also. One other question why wont B52 or f16/f18 follow
my waypoints?

these plane's i belive are hard coded into tfd i mean we the maper have no way to control them . they are for air strike's only when i was doing tfd maps lol jeesh sound's like age's ago . i tried everything under the sun to get them to fly by wpl and couldnt srry

What I wanted b52 and fighters to do was circle
enemy base simulating bomb runs then land
back at homebase when all targets are hit. I can
get them to take off and change velocities but they
go to some other flight path. I can deal with that
because the player gets to see them liftoff. When
mission is completed I wanted them to be back on
airbase when player returns. I tried teleporting
them back to base when bomb run was completed
but that didnt work. Can you teleport objects also
or just people? I didnt edit the line in notepad like was posted in sticky maybe thats why it didnt
work. And I just found out how to make them
do laser designated strikes from here so I will try again. Also why dont enemy vehicles shoot at you?

you can only teleport AI , try assingeing the enemy to group #2 this is red team by default

I tried the method in sticky about making b52
do airstrikes by inserting the D06M11_ in mission
name and using dialog file which I was already
using for sounds and it didnt seem to work. The
number of airstrikes would not stay in dialog box.
I got a copy of the mission from this site that
supposed to be the converted .mis file but when I export it to .bms the bombers dont show up on
laser designate and I cant find the event that supposed to make it happen. The stock mission
on game cd works so something must be different
between the two. How do you check for the laser
desinate event to be true?

if you added D06M11_ at begining of mission name you must add this to the .dbf dialog box { d_dialog.dbf in the dialog box } and not the sound dialog your useing
Now when you make your map, add d_dialog.dbf in the dialog box - this IS required, make sure you allow for how ever many artillery calls you need and fill that number in that box too, and then do as follows:
For the B52 to fly in your maps when you use the laser add D06M11_ to the begining of your map name. That's the letter D, number 0 (zero), number 6, letter M, number 1, number 1, UNDERSCORE and then your map name.
For the F16, do the same as above but put D06M23_ in the begining.
D06M18_ F18
I've tested both of these and it does work.

I think I had the right file in dialog box but the number of airstrikes would not stay in that field.
This is not terrain specific is it ? The stock mission
uses a different terrain than I am using. The number goes in with the dialog file? What event
command triggers this? It didnt show up it the
bms file that got converted to mis in the downloads section on this page and that file
doesnt do airstrikes either.

doesnt do airstrikes either. no this isnt trn specific but there may be a limit on the amount of air strike's tho im unsure on this here is a map i done while back . i had some HD problems and lost the .mis and .bms or i would send ya the .mis . go ahead and dnld it use the PFF_7 extractor then the bms2mis converter and look over the the way i have it set up .
Breath of Death
trn op10 a few furnished bldg's, there is 11 fire mission's where B52 drops bomb's Mission breifing = Intell show's that Iran seems to be hiding a small but deadly airforce for the Taliban in a canyon along the Iran Afaganistan border. kill all enemy resistance . Destroy aircraft the 666thB52TFW is on standby G/L ! limit civilian death's . this map will show up in quick mission's as { D06M11_Breath of Death.bms }

Do you know why it doesnt work on the converted
mis file in the downloads for tfd on this site the one that has all the stock missions converted
already in zip file ? the stock mission on cd works but the converted mis doesnt.

Does the converter work correctly now? When I looked at the events they were not labled in any
comprehensive manner. Just by event number.
Will I get the same thing if I reconvert the stock mission from my cd. I downloaded converter but
it says I need to load some other program to make it work. Another question what does an unlocked
editor have that the standard one doesnt? Are there more actions to choose from or something?

Are there more actions to choose from or something? snap your doing this w/stock editor srry dnld the unlocked map editor here in our file data base . the unlocked editor is just that unlocked when NL released the map editor's from df2 - bhd the editor's where basic meaning just the basic function';s worked . the unlocked editor has all event's unlocked and whole passel of other stuff unlocked :bouncing:

Well after playing around I managed to sorta simulate the bomb runs which I think will work
for now. Will try unlocked editor on next map I make. Basically I just placed the planes in a spot
close to enemy base but far enough away that
player cant see them and at a z value of 200 with velocity zero. They just hang in air out of sight
until you give them a velocity and waypoint.
You must point them in direction you want them to fly and make sure your waypoint has a Z of about 25. They will fly straight for a while then
bank left and fly away. If you place them right they fly over base then bank around it. It looks
really cool. The fighters or bombers both do it.
I will be finished in a day or two so I will post
mission soon.

thats nice im glad you got it working , you'll find out there are some thing's that cant be done w/editor but a good imagination you can do alot

description or what program (wordpad ?) should
be used to write it for forum? Here is a ss if it post right. Should I zip everything in one folder and
what all should be included?

great just click this link and follow the instruction's http://www.checkpointdelta.net/html/mapsubmit.html
if your OS is w/xp just create a compressed zipped folder in the tfd folder then drag the .bms for the map and 1 ss of map and a map descrpition into compressed zipped folder then drag it to desk top and email it to the addy in the link here is a exampel of a map des .

I emailed map and ss and description. How long before it will be up for download? Have fun with this map it can be challenging.
