Windows protection error

I have a problem with kids machine can anyone help?.

After installing directx 9c for there machine to play Sims 2.

Which it plays quite well.

The machine gives blue screen error if we try to play another game and on reboot haults with a windows protection error.

To solve this i reboot in safe mode and remove graphix card drivers and reboot normaly!!! then can reinstall drivers

This is very odd and i'm sure directx 9c is causing the problem

but machine pass's all directx tests

kids machine is 1.333 DDR Athlon, Windows Me, 256DDR ram, GeForce4 mx420 Graphix card

Please advice if you can

Is it any other game or a certain game? Just curious. So your saying only Sims2 plays well and no other?

At work we had 4 or 5 returns of Sims2 that have loading errors, regular cd and dvd version but your not having loading problems?

I've formatted machine abd just loaded on directx 9b going to test machine shortly

no sims 2 loaded fine

seems so far the prob was nvidia new driver pack while it worked ok with directx 9c caused error's for ap's not using 9c

problem solved

6.1.7.6 work fine with sims 2 but cause a windows protection error if you try to play a game that uses a earlier directx than 9c

For anyone else having simular probs i found all nvidia earlier drivers here
