After reading the many posts on the subject of the NILE Editor in the Nova forums I walked away with the sad feeling that to many people want to complain more then understand that this editor isn't fully functional and was released as a BETA version. Even NovaLogic has the attitude that they might have released it sooner then they wanted for the fact that so many people were impatient and complaining, so it's likely the updates will be slow in coming.
I just hope that any discussion on the subject here are kept to a realistic point of view, focus on the useable aspects of the editor and post useful and helpful hints for everyone to share and understand that there are problems with the editor and NovaLogic is working on them as fast as they can. Please, no complaints, we're not NovaLogic and can't do anything about the problems involved with this editor. You should post any and all problems with the editor on the Nova forums so they will be able to read and take note of them.
I personally love to make maps and look forward to using the NILE Editor with the same enthusiasm as I did with the editor making C4 maps. The editor is a step up from the BHD editor and hopefully Nova will address the issues and give us a workable editor in a fair amount of time. Until then…happy posting!

Editing Tips In 3D Mode:
To activate 3D mode either click the F3 Key or 3D box on the upper menu or Right Click the map area and select View Mode and click 3D.
In 3D view highlight object (building, vehicle, etc.) While holding Left-Ctrl and Num Pad (With-Lock On) you are able to rotate, move object with the keys and see the results in 3D mode.
7 Rotates object left
9 Rotates object right
8 Moves Object Forward
2 Moves Object Backwards
To Raise or Lower Object use plus and minus (+-) on Num Pad (This is z Value)
Pressing plus and minus will raise and lower object in small degrees.
Holding Ctrl will raise and lower in larger degrees.
You can rotate, move, etc multiple items by clicking and highlighting several items at once.

Haven't noticed that item in any map I've ever played yet and wondered why they are in the editor, but great idea for single player missions like you mentioned.

Nile's not a bad editor thats for sure, just missing the mian functions that makes a good coop map even greater..like "Altered State" for AI so they will run at you instead of stand there and let you gun them down. Area triggers to set up multiple action spots. Missing player waypoints in the spin map to guide players to the next objective, amoung other various things.
I keep reading the forums and checking the updates hoping that the magic update will come out and I might just get right back into making some more coop maps.

Yea I noticed the waypoints didn't work and the (stand still) AI , bummer.. Oh well i'll just try to work around that stuff for now :wink2: I'll keep waiting with ya for that "magic update" which will hopefully happen , not just for me , but if it will get you to make some more Coop Maps it will be worth it , cause dude you make some of the coolest Coop Maps i've ever seen... :thumb:
