Hey whats new?
Possible solution for the"stuck' issue.
I'm not 100% sure so I need some volunteers.
Nova's current items.def is missing some quotations around three items, all trees.
Originaly, I was under the impression that these had to remain incorrect, as Nova compensated for it in the code. Well recently an easier way to encode the defs has surfaced and Ive been able to successfully load the items def with all items correctly formated.
Anyway,
I have a hunch that the "stuck" issue directly releated to the items not being formated correctly. As I said Im not 100% sure,
but, I have not been stuck since using them so I would like to get my theory proved or disproved so we can either be rid of the issue or move on to the next possibility.
If you don't understand what I'm talking about, then do not download and install the defs.
If this does end up solving the problem i will post an install that everyone can use.
For those that wish to volunteer: Download the attachment and follow the instructions in the readme.txt.

I've already made some modded items and my items.def is 'growing'... no problems yet.
What items specifically are we supposed to test here for problems ?
What do you mean by stuck ?... frozen ?

im refering to getting stuck when you get killed but cant respawn.
Just want to know if anyone gets stuck while using this def.
Just normal game play is all thats required.

hey Bluetiereign,
what items might those be, i am working with bane and avenger to make an expansion, i would like to add some of them to the game if you can list what ya got......
i got so far,
a hummer from BHD, 3 repainted-seprate comanches
each uses its own def entry, 3di file, and dds's,
2 jet skis, and an airship made from the submarine, all
items are optional to use r not, what ya got?????

I've been flying for two days now with the fix applied, and I've played a considerable amount of games since. I'm happy to say I havent gotton stuck since I applied this fix.:dance:

So far, mine are experimental models... just testing the limits of C4's engine to adding things. What is bothering me is that the models act much like the tunnel models included with C4... you can ride on the surface... like its water... going to look into this at some point - time being a factor.
I think that you hit upon something though. Perhaps we should make a list of item # slots. Not a list of items but their type...Something like...
10001 - building
10002 - vehiclie
... so mods don't run over themselves and are compatable..

I've not had any problems with this items.def either... Seems to work fine.
