Hello Comanche fliers!

Im stuck on the "Icebox" mission in Comanche 4. Its the mission where you have to escort the rescue helicopter to save the downed F-14 pilots.

I take out ALL the enemy ground units and ALL the enemy helicopters until there are no baddies left at all.

Then I go to the waypoints, I even hover over the downed pilots - but the stupid rescue helicopter does not rescue the pilots. Its stays in a hover like 2 miles away and does'nt follow me like its supposed to. I've tried everything but it refuses to go rescue the pilots.

So I can never complete this mission :(

Any tips on how to solve this problem!?

Thanx :)

I went back to play this mission you discuss, and to be honest, find it amazing you leave out any discussion of your wingman. If it wasn't for that AI's contribution, the mission seems all but impossible. If you are flying this map without a wingman ... then it is quite possible your mission file is currupted...

If you are flying with one, perhaps you are turning too soon at WP1 and fail to trigger the event of Rescue One changing into what appeared as a formation mode, though when I looked into the events on this map, I did not see a mention of a formation action. I also noted that you must destroy a base, something I forgot doing due to the intense action of the map. Perhaps Charger will take a closer look at the map and spot the missed trigger... I will attach the .mis file with this post to save him some time.

I actually had the opposite problem with this map, and had to take a wide circular approach to WP2 to keep Rescue One out of the ground units' fire.

Good Luck! Hope this gets you closer ..

I completed it!

Instead of hiding behind hills and popping-up to take a shot - I just went hyper-agressive and flew aroudn in circles splashing enemy helo like flies and taking out the ground units.

In not time at all the rescue chopper had got the pilots and the mission ended!
