Missile Bait

Greetings. I appreciate the wisdom and willingness of others to help that I see on this site.
Have been playing C4 for about 3 months, enjoying it immensely. Recently developed an odd problem in Multiplayer: My PILOT NAME does not appear when I join a game ... whether it's a small game my teammate and I start, or a larger served game, I can join and play fine, BUT my player name is blank. So when I die at then hands of a player named "JohnDoe", you see the message "John Doe killed ." No name before the period.
This doesn't hurt game play, but isn't much fun.
Note that this started when I installed the new "ibrowse.dll" they put on NovaWorld. When I try swapping back to the old ibrowse.dll, this fixes the name issue BUT I can't load the NovaWorld login screens via the in-game browser (I get a white "server can't load this page" screen. This was a big problem for me before the new ibrowse.dll.)
So I have a choice between no name or no game play AT ALL.
I play behind routers at work, at home, and on the road. At work and home I can either open up port 17200 or open a DMZ temporarily.
Playing on a Dell Inspiron (laptop), P3 1.2 GHz, 512 Mb RAM, nVidia GEforce2 w/ 32 Mb of VRAM. (Playing at 800x600 keeps frame rates high).
Any suggestions?
