Would any of you like to play a 4 Team Deathmatch, King of the Hill, Team King of the Hill, or 4 Team King of the Hill?????

I have Worked with the c4.cfg and other files to figure out to
add and make this stuff work, but for now you must make manual modifications to files unless Inso or another decides to take my
information and develop a program to do these things for you.

For 4 Team Deathmatches you can use standard maps with the
glitch that yellow and violet players respawn at center of map
and after they respawn in exact spot they were killed. Or you
can use the unlocked mission editor and make maps with violet
and yellow bases, either way 3 or 4 teams would be more fun
for public gameplay and a new challenge for squad battles.

I propose that 2 progs are made to help these things along,
a server prog: sets amount of teams(2,3,4), serving players team preference, game type(DM, TDM, COOP, TKOTH, KOTH), and team passwords due to yellow and violet arent listed and cannot
be changed in C4.

I also propose that a client prog is made to let players pick what team to join(Blue, Red, Yellow, Violet)

we put up some 4 x 2 maps a year or two ago, but there wasnt much interest then. I think reaper and rant had some 4 color maps too. it would be nice to have a utility to do the cfg thing, it would be even nicer to have a server cfg and a player cfg screen that showed the 4 colors (if thats possible). The client side (player) is the biggest pain (having to let server assign you a color - otherwise you were stuck as the color in your config file).
I think some 4x2 or 4x3 maps would be great (I never got around to making any myself)

Word of warning about using the glitch to spawn the yellow or Violet in the middle of the map. You can spawn into items that will damage or kill you. And sometimes the game will spawn through another type of marker. I still have the 4team maps from before. And any one is welcome to them. I looked at some of Banes 4xteam maps last week. Die even ran a open tourney on the ones we made when we were messing with them. But Wiper is rite there was very little interest in that type of set up. The idea behind 4x was always to give players a true team mate in a bigger server. The fact that most players play open team games like a single player made it rather pointless. Now if there was a true king of the hill game with a game timer the players could see, That would be something a lot of players would draw to I think.

I got that covered, I know how to make yellow/violet spawn
point markers, and the King-hill games do have a working, visible
timer, they are real working king of the hill games, requiring
special maps that i can make, not even the unlocked c4 editor can
make maps for it correctly. requires modifications to the mis files!:stupid2:

If you tell me what and where (and you need to be accurate and detailed please) I will gladly give a shot at writing a configuration tool for configuring the server, as well as attempting something client side.

Wiper if Im understanding you correctly your saying an easier way (client side) to choose the team colors yes? and if so have you tried editing your c4.cfg? I havnt tried it but who knows....

Master If you expect this to fly in the community your going to have to let others know how to create/mod the map files, or for that matter see if we cant write a util or it. Bottom line if your the only one making the maps this will die before it leaves the ground.

The way King of the Hill works on c4 is that there is a King-Hill
area picked by the map creator and a time limit that the server
runner chooses(game time limit and king-hill limit), If a team can
hold the "hill"(area) for the king-hill limit(1-2 mins) without loosing
it for even a second then they win, if at the end of the game
noone is in the area its a draw, if someones in it but king-hill
time hasnt completed then the team holding it at end wins.

hey inso,
if I remember correctly you can set the color you want to be in your c4cfg file (ie "yellow"), when you go to enter the game, you then don't get an option of what color you want to join (the option select screen only handles red and blue), andyou can join that color if the server is set up so you can pick. that was a big hassle as I recall, and I think we ended up mostly playing where server auto assigned you a color (cause half the guys had a hard time doing the config, and none of the players coming in off the street knew how do to it at all.

The spawning in the middle of the maps or in the middle of the air problem is solved by adding yellow and violet start markers, There available in the unlocked editor.

To get around the problem of joining as yellow and violet teams you can either disable the option to choose teams and the server will balance them or you can add a simple password for each team and post the "key" in the servers description (Pass= (B)lue or (R)ed etc.. (Y) (V)) Then pick what ever team u want. The server will ask for a password and add u the the appropriate team.

Team King of the Hill.
I've actually been working on a version of TKOTH by using a BOT as a football or a runner which is controled by area triggers in the KOTH Center. The BOT becomes a member of the team controlling the center and with a few minor adjustments to make it a worthy adversary it heads out for a specified goal. The other team can turn the bot toward the other goal by taking over the KOTH center or by intercepting the bot and killing it in which case it its teleported back to a designated area (current trouble spot with AI ((im)mortality). If no teams are in the koth center the bot becomes neutral and lands. if both teams are in the koth center the bot will stop and hover (remaining on its current team and activly hunting threats) until a king is crowned then it continues toward the victors goal. extra kill points can be awarded when the bot reaches the goal by the group kill function applied to the opposing team and counting the corpses. 1 point per corpse.

I could use a decoded "Comanche, stingers, fast" aip file if anyone has one?.

I've also posted a few 4x4TDM & DM's added 50 C4 BOTS set as viscious as they get. They swarm like wasps. its pretty cool to see from afar. Up close usually doesnt last long unless our on the same team. I've attached an Example BOT MATCH with this post.
(BOTS are RED) Extract the zip to your c4 folder and use /d in the command line.

I've also compiled a little mod so that all stock maps and missions can be played by night in the Cool Desert Night style (Infared color) with different ground textures and am tweaking with the Moon and star light enhancments as well. I will be posting them soon.

I have some other multiplayer map ideas in the works and several custom terrains to post later, but will end this post here.

Hey Bane i figured out how to make a real King of the Hill game
actually seprate from TDM, it can be set to Team koth or dm koth
and nova game list will probly recognize it as King of the Hill.....
or just blank under game type.....Will be posting instructions in a textfile soon as im finished, how to make koth maps(unlocked editor cannot do this correctly), how to modify c4.cfg for team prefrence, num teams(server), Game type(actual Koth), Actual
koth time limit to win by holding the hill for a given amount of time
and a koth timer visible to all players.

This is cool. There were 2 servers up last night for a while 1 was running team KTOH the other a death match version. Any 1 that makes maps, Banes zip is all you need to put these out. This playes as a reg KOTH with timers and scoring. The game type even shows in the lobby. Thanks Bane we can really use this.

This code takes the place of Koth, Team Koth, and makes the given map a multiple type map including, DM, TDM, TKOTH, and
DM Koth

useful to use the same BMS for multiple types rather than load
c4 folder with maps of same content only different types....

make deathmatch spawns and team spawns and this will work fine....

My textfile is a bit more thorogh, i will post it when its finished, and capture the flag doesn't function correctly, and i cant get it to,
the markers for it dont work, I will give a few more tryes but then
i will stop working on CTF if i cannot find any working markers for
it....

Here here are some Mickey Mouse Markers you can use if you want.
They look like flags and have the correct color sceme.

I've also not been able to get CTF or flagball to function.

Seems to me that the functions are only half complete which is a good reason for Nova to bury these features and leave out the flags in the firstplace.

S&D may function and the flags will be usfull in that respect.

I will probably keep digging into CTF. If anything else they can be used with teleporters for some halfbaked version of the game.

I've noticed playing TKOTH maps that have too big of a Zone, Output % will flicker. So I made more zones that are smaller and the Flicker stopped. For example 1 koth center at 222 distance will flicker. But 4 or 5 koth centers at 99 distance stop the flicker. Anyone else notice this?
