HI everyone I'm new at comanche4 and would like to host with router. I have linksys BEFSR41. I read in this website to open port 17200 in port forwarding and also direct x port. WHAT IS direct x port? Should i type direct x in the application in port forwarding? And if so what is the ports? Should i nodifly the c4 folder or what?
And i would like my ping to be display in the game lobby, other then unknown ping. :(

Will give you step by step, need one thing from you, looking at the front of your linksys is there a "Cisco" logo on the left side?

Ok well regardless
With the cisco logo,
log into your router, click the "application/gaming" tab give the app name "C4" Start - 17200 End- 17250 Protocol "TCP" enter the IP number for your server and click enable. If you want your server to post a ping time in the nova lobby, change to the "security"page and disable "Block anonymous Internet requests" <-- I do NOT recommend this as it removes all firewall abilities of the router but this is the only way to get the ping in that i know of
Without the "cisco" logo,
Log into your router, click the advanced tab far right. once loaded clcik forwarding
Under server port range, 17200 - 17250 and enter the server ip. again if you want to allow the ping go back to the filters tab and disable "Block Wan requests" NOT recommended but your choice if you want the ping.
I have seen other posts and instructions allwoing for directx ports, and Im not really sure what dirctx needs net access for as far as the game is concerned. I have never opened any ports aside from the game port 17200-17250 and everything works fine so, do as you will with the rest.
If someone could explain to me why a directx port is required for multiplayer I would really be interested to know!!

I saw this from a member from this website replying to someone else, so i just copy and pasted here for you to see.
Comanche 4 - UDP port 17200
Direct X - UDP port 4660
Thats why i was so confused. In here it says "UDP" PORTS but the reply i got form u it says "TCP" And yes my router got a cisco logo in the front Ver3
BUT thankyou so much will try it when i get out of work.

I could be mistaken on the protcol type, might be udp, test it both ways and reply with what worked.
