SSGWarHog-USA the " newshound " found out something very interesting. It seems someone using ebay has put together a CD compilation of 1200 BHD maps and is charging $9.99 for the privelege. Okay it may seem small time but he could in fact ship an awful lot of copies of this compilation. You all put the effort into making them so is it right that someone should profit from your work or is he providing a service to you the gamer ? We will let you all be the judge and you can tell us what your views are at www.dfmax.com .

Same thing happened with custom maps for DFLW & DFTFD...

Here is a link to ArcticWolf's copyright inquiry: Map Maker's Rights (http://www.dfarena.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4816&highlight=copyright)

How anyone is to look at it , Bottom line ,
Stealing something is down right Wrong, but taking credit for it is lower than low, as far as I'm concerned the individual that would do this is nothing but a scum-bag. But as far as the copy-right's go and the laws that are put in place to protect against such thief. How could one protect oneself, if the thief is from another country? that to me would be the difficult senerio to try and have inforced.

Since there's a bms 2 mis utility, how could some one proved that their actually the creator of a particular map?

Since I've never used e-bay before, I may not have searched in the right area but I did search for anything related to BlackHawk Down and couldn't find anything that refered to what is mentioned above. I'm somewhat pegged at the thought of someone selling maps made by others and getting a proifit for it. As Hutch says..."scum-bag" well its just a mild word for what I think of someone doing something like this. Persoanly what ever maps I've made and posted here for any of these games was a labor of sharing and do not want to get "paid" for making them and do not want someone else taking what I've made and getting money for them either.
Well anyway here's my message to the guy selling the disk...

"Yo beeeeoutch...Get a life scum-bag!!"

personaly i dont think the disk will sell as most peeps have writers now and you can download as many maps as you want from any df site

if anything it would only service a few peeps and as it costs to advertize on ebay be it only a few dollors i'm not suprized the ad has not been renewed

Beeing new in creating Maps myself, I made a few maps of which I'm Proud.
And to complete that "yea!thats one of mine" feeling i wondred if it is'nt possible to get that map registred somewere.

If you see (a part of) your map for sale on some CD one bought from the internet, you can file a complain to that "somewere" to prove your right.

And like always with almost everything digital in the world, it will be bought by someone, placed on some site for free download. And then watch if someone starts to complain about "his" CD free for download on internet :butt:

And then hope he has no fun of his $9,95
