Wow, you know how hard it is to find a forum for Comanche 4? This was the only decent hit on Google.

Anyway, I was wondering if any of you have the Saitek X-45. I just got C4 yesterday and for the life of me I can't seem to get it to recognize any joystick button or access.

System Specs:
Celery 1.1G@1.26G
512 Megs of RAM
Win XP
GF3TI200 128 meg
Saitek x-45 HOTAS with Latest Saitek Drivers

The only bit of info I have found was something about resetting your keys to Default after upgrading.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi:

Have you tried uninstalling the Saitek drivers to see if that solves your problem?

Tristan.

Click on the following two links:

http://www.novalogic.com/games/C4/faqs.html#controllers

Then try:

http://saitekhelp.simhq.com/

I have a Microsoft, I just recall seeing this info, figured it may help someone sometime and bookmarked it.

Thanks for the links.

Yeah, I did uninstall/reinstall.

Do you think it may have to do with another gamepad I have installed? I have a logitech rumplepad and I am wondering if it is conflicting or stealing the axis.

I guess it depends on how C4 is polling the joystick.

I have been reading the forums over at SimHq all day. Finding some help, but not much. I'll try some more things and report back.

Yup. Comanche 4 is probably defaultiing to your Logitech pad. If you unplug the gamepad, your Saitek HOTAS will probably be recognized by the game.

I wish to hell that the PC platform had its own version of Gamesprockets technology, which allows for multiple input devices. Oh well. :)

well, it looks like I was right. My gamepad was stealing the settings for the game. I unplugged it, reset the binds in game to default and it picked up on my buttons.

Joystick and throttle works. Granted, not all the buttons work natively, but most do.

I played for about 3 hours last night without any problems. Maybe this will help someone else in the future

Thanks for the suggestions.

Ed,

Goto Saitek.com and get the latest programming software for your stick and OS.

Here's the page for drivers/software for 98/ME.
http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/down/drivers.htm

and for XP/2000
http://www.saitekusa.com/usa/supp/2000xpmenu.htm

Start there. Make sure to read all the instructions. The X36 is very similar to the X45. So, following the installation instructions is very important.
