original question from novasheep.com forum smokin@4:20bud 1st posted it on dfarena.com forum because i sent it to him and anthony refered me to pappys replay on his forum because i was wishing for this effect lol here yall go enjoy lol .
Yes, I'm happy, why? Simple.. In DFTFD there's 2 missions where you have either a B52 or a F16 fly in and drop bombs on your targets you hit with the laser. Since the game came out I know that many map makers, including myself, have tried to figure out how to make it work in our maps and were fighting a losing battle.
Recently Smokin posted a note on being able to use the F16 finally through help from Pappy at Novasheep.com but the problem was that you HAD to name it with the generic map file name in order for it to work.
NOT ANY MORE!!
Now when you make your map, add d_dialog.dbf in the dialog box - this IS required, make sure you allow for how ever many artillery calls you need and fill that number in that box too, and then do as follows:
For the B52 to fly in your maps when you use the laser add D06M11_ to the begining of your map name. That's the letter D, number 0 (zero), number 6, letter M, number 1, number 1, UNDERSCORE and then your map name.
For the F16, do the same as above but put D06M23_ in the begining.
I've tested both of these and it does work.
AND NO it does NOT have to be the outpost buildings! I tried it in my Bloody Sunday II map and the F16 nicely chopped up 1 tree and shreaded one Enemy AI.
The B52 destroyed an outpost building and also 3 trucks.
It does work. g/l peace

Cool Ed, Thanks for posting that.
your persistance & your F16 bombing run map that you made last week is what started it all.

this { D06M11_ } is for b52
this {D06M23_ } is for f16
im unsure what the # is for f18 havent looked for it yet . as long as ya place the nominclature and underscore before your map name . and place in dialog DBF box this {d_dialog.dbf } you will have the bomb run's on any terrain for s/p or coop . the targets can be anything just make sure in general info erea ya set ammount of fire mission's . here try this
open editor tfd choose terrain not gm type set fire mission at 3 ok now place 3 anything on terrain dont forget player start . save export and go to quick mission's this is where map will be . because ya didnt make gm type . play it lase the 3 anything's 1 at time . lase 1 and watch untill bomb drops lol hope this helped ya

it will work on all maps & terrains as long as the map name starts with d06m11 or d06m23.
ie d06m11_mymap.bms

Wish I had seen this information before. I have been trying to make a map with bomb run myself.
For any who are interested I did get around the problem without having to add the D06M23_ at the start of my map name but it did take some time to get right. This is how i did it.
I added 2 F18's to the map and set them up with waypoints that took them over the target. Then I set an area trigger over the target.
I then set up the target with items/buildings that could be destroyed. Some items were buried underground so as not to be seen. and gave them all a group name.
I then set an event trigger, I used destruction of SAM's, when event takes place the F18's are redirected to their waypoint list and start their bombing run. A couple of WAV files let u know they are on the way.
When the F18's reach the trigger area an event causes the group in the compound to be "killed", this efectively causes a large explosion and the compound is destroyed.
It looks like the F18's have bombed the target.
I did have one problem however that took time to get right. The F18's would not follow the waypoints but just flew a big circle before dissapearing off into the distance. It took trial and error to place the flight path over the target.
Does any one know why this happens and how I can get F18's to follow waypoints?
I would also like to teleport a Bg with rocket launcher behind the compound and get him to shoot down one of the F18's. Can this be done?
Thanks in advance.

{ Does any one know why this happens and how I can get F18's to follow waypoints?
I would also like to teleport a Bg with rocket launcher behind the compound and get him to shoot down one of the F18's. Can this be done? } question #1= to be honest since it was discovered how to have the bomb run's , according to =BSS=Pappy the tfd bomb run's . i dont belive it's been looked into further { Ok I got it to work but I'm not happy with the results.
It appears not novalogic put some SPECIAL cinema effects into the missions such as the B52 flying over .
I hope this info helps. }
hecne why we must set up bomb run's in the manner pappy has set forth . i have 2 tfd s/p maps that contain multipul bomb run's in the map dnld's section here . now your 2nd question = can you teleport a ai w/stinger to shoot down the bomber . { there have been a few of us mappers tryn this same effect and , have not been able to do it . but he he it is possible to have a sam look like its targeting and shooting at the insertion helo

want a tfd sam to fire on the insertion helo ??? try this
take 1 sam place it on map , now take 1 AI make red team group evil red and arm him w/stinger . ok now insertion helo set up helo's wpl event's so on for it . now take another AI or teammate and set him to his blue team group blue good. have this ai or team mate spawn on top of helo . all that's needed when insertion helo get's w/in range of sam it will fire on helo . hint for proper placement of ai @ sam will take some fine tuneing so ai wont blow up sam . i have a map im doing that has just this effect and work/s fine i would make sam ai weapon acc way down unless you wish to be shot down lol g/l :2ar15smilie:
[Edited on 08-20-02 by Edward]be sure to set the ai by sam and on helo to gaurding

Ed..
Using the Blackhawk*Dagger chopper, if you set the AI to a Z Val of 1.192, they will ride inside it with no problems. The only problem I discovered is that if it's a coop, others may see them dropping through the floor and reappearing back in the chopper over and over. I set them to BLUE, and also to GUARDING to keep them from trying to run out of it.
The Enemy will fire at the BH and if you've set the speed slow (25kph or slower) they'll even shoot it down. I did not allow for AT4's in the map for this though. Also, if you give them guns they will randomly take shots at the enemy too.
As far as using the bomb runs, make sure you use destructable items (buildings/vehicles/ect) as it looks kinda ..er.. funky.. with planes dropping bombs on things that don't blow up.
You can also have multi bomb runs going on at the same time, just make sure you set up enough "artillery" shots. Fire your laser at several targets at once and they'll fly in.
Just remember to use caution as the more you add to a map or the more you have going on will cause Frame Rate Loss and you know how people always cry of "lag" :(
